Four square. What four square?

In a world, where everything is digitized and mobile phone penetration atrocious, it's easy to think old world marvels will die. Iconic phone booths are such old world marvel. Nike & W+K London have come up with something that used the phone booth to an amazing effect. You don't bet against them to come up with a campaign for Nike with franking machines later. Enjoy this video which outlines the idea quite succinctly.

Every line has a story to tell

Faces have always been a great subject for photography. Over centuries, there has been amazing painters and lensmen who have captured awesome portraits. Time and again someone impresses upon, more than others. Here's one that caught my eye. Most of his subjects are from Morocco, which adds another dimension to his work.

Inspiration from an unexpected source

I don't think much of science fiction films. While I understand the vision in making such films, I feel it isn't emotional enough for me. Even when my favourite director, Stanley Kubrick, made some of the most intriguing sci-fi films.

So when James Cameron, considered an auteur sci-fi movie maker, made his TED speech, I didn't expect much of it. But surprisingly he let out some gems. Watch from 13th minute to get the gist of what he spoke. (I recommend for you to see the full video).

He speaks about a few things:

1. Essence of a true leader: RESPECT
2. Curiosity, single most powerful thing a human owns
3. Imagination, a force that can manifest Reality
4. Failure is an option, but fear isn't
5. Don't put limitations on yourself because others will
6. Don't bet against yourself

These are some of the most powerful things that can be said in over 15 minutes.

Do or do not.... there is no try

Strategy

One of my favourite lines from Star Wars, written for Yoda. I have heard too much of 'we are trying'... 'trying to do our best'...'we gave it a good long try'.... all seems to be making no sense to me. There is either DO or DO NOT. I also like this poster done by Herb Kelleher which sort of says the same thing.

I happened to speak to a bunch of university undergraduates and my speech was centered around 'doing things'. While it seems like an obvious thing, it isn't that obvious. When you have an ambition or a dream or something that you really want to do, do it and then see what happens.

Conflict

Venndiagram

I found this interesting image in a blog (its been a while since I saved this image, I am unable to give credit to the blogger, sincere apologies). It's a very simple to way to look at happiness: self, collective, self and collective.

I guess one's life can be defined by the proportion of happiness in these three quadrants. More the central quadrant, more a service minded, people's person. One with more % of the collective well being an imposter. One with a higher % of self happiness, while cannot be termed selfish, but surely someone who knows to take care of oneself.

If I am asked to plot % in all these cells, it would be a tough task but surely a possible one. I will put 45% on self, 35% on self and collective, 20% on collective.

Do yours and see where you come along.
